My school has recently banned T-bar shoes, and we are forced to wear lace tops (http://www.widefitshoes.co.uk/images/112-10_zoom.jpg), so I was wondering if it is anyway to make them less Look grandmother-ish, less masculine, etc.

Or shoes that are appropriate to the school are less virile.

Hello, I'm assuming you're a girl here if not, sorry. I understand perfectly, I used to go to a Catholic school with the same rules. I used to wear black lace with a pretty high heel. If you go to a local shoe store and look in the Women section and you should find pretty much black shoes. Look for shoes with a smooth finish on them and if you have permission, you can decorate with lace and other cool.

I had a look at Schuh and Office, I think Rocket Dog Shoes and Hush Puppies shoes are really nice that I would by choice, so if you can bring those who do not need to be laced go for something like that.

depending on how stringent they are, you can always customize your shoes, especially if your good arty. even if you can not have any color on your shoes, it is easy enough to create a rosette of different types of black net fabric and shiney buttons. or even just a simple arc? and then with a safety pin or wire attach to your shoe. If you look at Irregular Choice shoes they use a lot of this type of thing on their shoes.

you probably can not do that but there are also very fashionable boots with black laces right now and you could wear something like that if your aloud to wear ankle boots.

If you are allowed to have different colored shoes then you might try to find a more colorful version of the shoe, one that looks more feminine. because the shoes in the picture are very broad and I guess you can find the same type of shoes, but less manly looking.
