My hiking boots are the right size for me? In two weeks, I'll go hiking with my friends for three weeks in the Himalayas. I must admit, I'm not exactly an expert hiker and a few weeks ago, I went and bought Timberland hiking boots, waterproof Gore-Tex (around $ 100). Now I'm suddenly having doubts about the size because I was informed that it was essential that you break in your boots by wearing them around the house. At the store, I find the length to be perfect so I (pressed) just buy them and went away. Now as I walk around the house, I feel that there are about half a centimeter to the left to the length if its all good. But I have really big feet, so I feel the width is about tight. My friend says it is not possible to stretch Kortex by the break in wearing it for a while will not help to increase the width. I have big feet (size 9) and the size is too long for me, so I probably would rub against them blisters after a long period. But this size is too tight around the width. What should I do? Does Gore-Tex material expansion? (I need a waterproof fabric, not leather or cloth) Answers will be appreciated! :)
Make sure they are broken into before u go or they will be very ill at ease! Regarding the width, I have a similar problem. I find most materials stretch, but I've never had gortex boots. Contact Timberland advice to get them to adapt. Bon voyage sounds excellent!
