Do retired greyhounds require a lot of walking? I have a problem of muscle that does not allow me to take many long walks. I love greyhounds. Are there breeds that do not need to walk as much as a retired greyhound?
is like saying "use it or lose it"
This is true with all breeds of dogs, if you do not exercise them, even the dogs, their joints and muscles down faster.
if a dog is retired, then stop to rest =)
It's like PPL
do push too much for walking the dog, pet him more and more fond of him, =)
All dogs require walking / exercise. There are races that are more likely to be a couch potato "than others, but even they still need exercise to be healthty. It does not seem like a dog could be the animal that you. What about a cat?
If you have a garden is better. Retired Greyhounds love to run. In circles. I'm not joking at all, if it sounds funny. They are not sedentary.
Have you considered a Bulldog? They drool, and they are powerful, but they can not walk well or far.
Of course, all dogs. If you do not walk your dog, he will suffer from psychological problems as the dog whisperer, Cesar Milan.
A greyhound retirement requires at least two walks a day and a lot of time outdoors. If you can not go on long walks, I would not recommend a greyhound. A small breed like a poodle, or fries ****- tzu Bishon might be a better option for you.
Contact your local group rescue greyhounds and get information from them. Greyhound basically couch-potatoes and did not need to exercise, any more than any other dog. Many people do not get it because they think they are hyper and running all the time, but this is not the case. I learned a lot about them and you rescue organizations would do well to take their brain.
I adopted a retired greyhound.
She is a couch potato PERFECT!
LOL when I take her for walks, I find myself pulling her along! She walks so slow .......... likes to rest ......
It is good only running in the yard when it is the ambition. Then she takes a long nap. :) I like to say a pen in the yard is a MUST. Other than that, sounds like a good dog for you!
Here is a perfect example:

(.. Psst. answers that they need much exercise should have 0 experience! They really do not!)
They must walk on a leash ... Always!
But they are retired, so not everything works well.
They just want love and affection.
Ask people who have retired greyhounds for their advice on how it takes a lot.
let them rest.
Speaking with one of those who do reascue for this breed.
They are your best resource for learning what they need.
Many people I know who own them do not walk, but take hours in a confined space and let them run several times a week and the dogs do it just fine.
Awww, greyhounds, baby in the world "perfect! I miss my daughter - she left for the Rainbow Bridge nearly two years.
If you can make a round, oval or some sort of track around the garden, it is exercise.
Our system even allows you to bring us adoptees to retire there for a good race from time to time.
My yard track is not that long - it simply does not need tight corners.
I hope you can get one - gives him / her a big ole kiss and a hug from me.
retired greyhounds do not need a lot of walking on a leash. Yet they require an open and closed to run freely and learn to enjoy their new life as pets. The dogs are inside dogs and generally love attention once.
