Inline Skating Lessons

Inline Skating LessonsLooking for Inline lessons around Bridgewater, NJ for adults.?

I am interested to learn inline skating and looking for lessons around Bridgewater, NJ. Does anyone know a good trainer training offering. How much does it cost for a trainer and how long does it take to learn basic skills such as judgments, reverse and spin. Thank you
DJ

I will suggest you contact the Empire Skate Club of Manhattan (www.empireskate.com/).

They know the instructors in the area and may know of those in your concretely towards Manhattan.

Cost of course depends on the area and if they are group lessons or individual.

The park's central chapter of the National Skate Patrol (www.skatepatrol.org/) gives free lessons on stopping and skating safely ( http://www.skatepatrol.org/clinics.html) ...
They also have a page for you to learn to stop at http://www.skatepatrol.org/tutorial.html and information on lessons to more complete throug http://www.skatepatrol.org/skateschool.h ...
I recommend to familiarize themselves with the balance on your skates and if possible the foundation to move forward and stop before taking a lesson. This means you get more time to work on getting good instead of trying to balance.
If you're not sure at first. Put your skates on when on carpet or grass and practice to walk. This way, you eliminate the pads try to ride.

Skating is an intermediate skill back, you should be able to skate forward, stop and turn well before you try to go back. The major hangup to make a step backwards for most people is the transition from front to rear. I use a modification of the spin off (which is a higher skill beginner) to make the transition rather than jumping or using two fingers to make a U-turn.

Spinning (as you see skaters do) is a cutting-edge competence. Very few skaters want to learn it.
Stopping the spin (rotation around you a very small circle to the inside) is one of the skills that most beginners can even be taught in your first lesson (if you progress through the lower level elements (Case heel stop the grass one stride, turn, parallel turn).
