That is what my girlfriends and I think. Why or why not? It is obviously more difficult to figure skating, and takes more skill. My friends and I are curious to know if other perspectives.

Hockey is completely different.

You try to play there against five guys who want to kill you. Figure skating is for *******. Play a real sport. Hockey is for champions. Figure skating is losing ******* who will not be affected. Hockey requires intelligence and skill. Try stopping a slap shot of a d-man who can shot nearly 100 mph. Try facing a goalkeeper who has the reflexes of an Olympic athlete. Try stick handling the puck against the d-men that the sole job is to hit you.

Not at all, whatsoever. This puts me off that people think the NHL is a wanna-be place skaters. I'm sorry but Alex Ovechkin, Sidney Crosby, Zach Parise, Keith Duncan, (the one you think is best) may not be able to jump and spin, then land in a split, but they kick _ (excuse my language). Hockey is a sport VERY difficult to master, it takes a lot of grain to make it to the NHL. Blocking shots hit 105 mph on the face can really hurt you, against Ryan Miller in a shootout is not an easy task and win the Stanley Cup is as difficult as winning the Olympic Gold .

Anyway, hockey is not an outlet for frustrated artistic skaters!

No figure skating and hockey are both sports, but for different reasons. Figure skating is all about the presentation and be gracious. Not just anyone can pick it up. You must be very fit and have a perfect balance. Learning routines is difficult and takes skill and hard work. It's like dancing with skates, and then some.

Hockey on the other hand is probably one of, if not most, most difficult sport there. You must know how to skate (with speed), while using a stick, trying to direct the puck while keeping the balance and take hits hard on the boards of directors and other players. Plus, you must have good vision and learn to play effectively. He also fights involved. Players combat damage and concussions. Not just hockey, but one of the positions in hockey is probably more talent than figure skating. Goaltending is a normal job, of course. How would you like your job if every time you made a small mistake, a red light on top of your desk and 15,000 people stood up and shouted at you.

So, I give the edge hockey. But there is no doubt skating takes so much time and effort as well.

Whoever Thurs me thumbs down, hey, I'm just giving the facts. I believe that hockey is definitely harder, but you can not just say ice skating is b! Tasks, or whatever when you probably have no idea if you have not done exactly as with hockey. You do not know how hard it is until you try.

Otherwise, here is why they are not.

a.) Most hockey players can skate as quickly and smoothly as any figure skating, heavy blocks.
b) Beat the goalkeeper has become increasingly difficult, until now, that make 3 goals in a game is great. The hardest thing in figure skating is a triple axle, most of whom are not even a contest because they want to get the best score, do not try the hardest things. So I think that should have beaten Lysacek Plushenko: Plushenko may have been less gracious, but he sure as hell was the most talented skater, and showed greater boldness.
c) Even if figure skating is more "graceful" Hockey requires much more intelligence, speed, strength, etc.
