Ecco Track

I recently bought walking shoes black brown. More specifically, the Ecco Track IV Lo. What should I wear socks when wearing shorts with these? They are walking shoes, I intend to use them when traveling in Europe (but also around my office-friendly shorts). white socks just do not look right, the shoes are a nice dark brown. I think the light brown socks, perhaps with a simple model. I would be in khaki shorts with them. Thank you! (Incidentally I am a guy.)

Sorry, no socks with shorts unless you're over 50:) and white is acceptable because people "expect that the elderly jk .. hahaha

What is it really that athletic socks do not show too much, you always get the comfort of wearing a sock, but you do not look tacky to do so. :>)
