Backyard Rinks The cold winter has finally migrated elsewhere and spring has finally arrived!
Usually, this is excellent news for most people, but to our family and the ice rink back in love others like us, that means we had to watch our News thawing and melting! We now have to dismantle our backyard rink and nothing saddens us most!
Our family seems very excited to introduce the ice when the temperature drops dramatically in the late fall and we're really not looking forward to the end of the winter season. Again, this past winter, our family had a lot of fun playing outside on our backyard rink. We have spent many hours of fun playing hockey and skating backyard with our neighbors, friends and other members of our family. It's over now!
... BUT, there is always light at the end of the tunnel and we're planning on our backyard rink for next season. Each year I make a little (or big) addition to our surprise our kids skateboard and makes it more enjoyable for everyone. Next season I plan to make my ice more ...
For those who want to build your own rink, now is the perfect time to start planning. There are many things to consider and many questions to answer if you want to succeed in building your own yard rink.
- How big is going to be my arena? What shape will it?
- Will I use a plastic liner to an ice rink? Or am I just snow to ice (if you do not mind offering a time and work to make ice and maintenance)?
- Will I need advice? What materials do I need?
- Do I have a limited budget? I will build my myself a rink?
- Do I need a bigger budget and someone else will build my rink? Mother Nature to freeze the ice rink will be my be refrigerated?
- Is my yard too steep and should I upgrade before installing my ice?
- When should I put my ice? Temperatures are adequate to build an outdoor rink?
- How can I resurface my mirror and what tools are needed for the ice rink resurfacing?
There are many questions to be answered.
Please take time to figure the type of track you need an answer to these questions before attempting to build your own rink. It will make the project a lot easier and fun. Having a backyard rink is undoubtedly a rewarding experience for the whole family and if it is well planned in advance the project of making your own ice rink backyard will be an enriching and fruitful way.
